Bagas Porthia is a group of musicians who love a good tune and there are certainly plenty to choose from. This popular band has been quietly building up a strong following with their unique take on Cornish and Celtic music. Traditional and contemporary tunes and songs combine with rich Celtic instrumentation to produce a mellow yet energetic sound. We can also include easy to follow Cornish dances - just a ceilidh without the complications!

Hevva is a group of experienced dancers and musicians who display, teach and promote the traditional dances and music of Cornwall. The group performs at festivals and events around Cornwall and acts as an ambassador for Cornish culture further afield, including at festivals in Celtic and other countries.

As well as displays, Hevva can also provide a band and caller for ceilidhs or put on a full Cornish troyl. These quintessentially Cornish evenings of entertainment can include dance displays, music, song, a costume presentation and participatory dancing. The group includes a number of Cornish language speakers and can incorporate this into any booking.

Hevva runs open evenings for anyone interested in learning or practising traditional Cornish dance or music.

Kekezza

Young Cornish dance group based in Redruth. Open to teenagers and above, the group was formed in 2006 and has since gone on to represent Cornwall at the Interceltic Festival at Lorient, the biggest of its kind, as well as travelling to Wales and giving displays in Cornwall itself. The group perform traditional dances and newly choreographed dances in traditional style, specialising in Cornish step dance. The name means 'heather' and their costumes reflect the colours of the plant, often used as a symbol for Cornwall.

Penzance Amateur Operatic Society (PAOS)

We are a group of about sixty amateurs, who put on at least one big show a year at St John's Hall in Penzance.
In February 2010 it's 'Brigadoon'. In 2009 it was 'My Fair Lady'. Whether you want to be on stage, backstage or elsewhere, why not get in touch, and we can have a chat. PAOS has been going nearly 100 years, so we must be doing something right!

Truro Choral Society

The society performs several concerts each year, often in Truro Cathedral. The choir is currently (September 2009) about 100 strong. Our Music Director is Martin Palmer. We perform mostly choral classic pieces, but also some modern choral music. There are a few optional social events.
No auditions are required: come along and try us for 2-3 rehearsals!

We meet every Tuesday evening in term-time, 7 p.m. - 9pm at Richard Lander School, Truro, Cornwall.
