Fowey Festival of Arts and Literature 2018

Saturday, 12th May 2018

The Fowey Festival of Arts and Literature is proud to announce Wildwood Kin will open the Festival on 11th May and the The Rails will close it 19th May. The festival will provide an interesting range of good quality entertainment; literary based interviews, presentations, theatre, music, comedy, academic talks, as well as workshops, exhibitions and local walks; an eclectic mix to inform and inspire the imagination! Workshops and participatory events will be a key feature this year so that you can join in and learn new skills or even improve old ones. The Festival is inspired by the famed author Daphne du Maurier, who spent a large part of her life in and around Fowey, where she took inspiration from her surroundings and created a rich literary legacy of titles set in the Cornish landscape. The Festival continues to include a strand of du Maurier themed events from walks showcasing the inspiration behind the author’s stories to book readings and debates. The Festival is embedded in the heart of the quintessential Cornish harbour side town of Fowey, with panoramic views over the river, busy with boats, ferries and water taxis, and beyond to the open sea. Since 1997 the Festival has brought countless internationally renowned writers, performers and entertainers to Cornwall, creating a buzz of excitement in the town and attracting festival-goers from across the UK and overseas. Please park in one of the long stay car parks around the town. See car park information on the map in the programme or visit www.cornwall.gov.uk. From most car parks it is about a 5-10 minute walk into town. A minibus service operates from the Main Car Park. Please allow extra time to get to a venue as car parks will be busy.
