Lived-in LandscapesSaturday, 29th May 2010 to Thursday, 10th June 2010
In the Gallery at Trereife Tom Henderson Smith shares his fascination with all those aspects of Cornwall's landscape that suggest human presence. Centuries of farming and a long history of mining have left a clear imprint here and the themes Tom has been able to use have therefore ranged from field patterns to ancient sites, from clusters of buildings to well worn paths as well as a tragic and haunting image from the history of tin and copper mining. He also became increasingly aware of another lived-in aspect, that translating these images into paint or charcoal involved literally living in these compositions. Colour mixtures, paint layering, brush and finger marks began to coax a feeling of life into what he was doing and this, he says, gradually led to a sense of each piece having a life of its own. His aim has become to bring this quality to a pitch of vividness unique to the hand-made image. Open daily 11a.m. - 5 p.m. From 29th May - 10th June 2010. For Trereife House and Gallery look for the first right-hand turning off the A30 west of Penzance - for a map visit Google maps.

Trereife House is looking forward to hosting a unique Easter Bank Holiday Food and Craft Fair.
For
