A Chorus Line

Thursday, 9th September 2010 to Saturday, 11th September 2010

Redruth Amateur Operatic Society (Trust) presents ‘A Chorus Line’ live on stage at the Regal Theatre, Redruth, Cornwall.
In an empty theatre, on a bare stage, casting for a new Broadway musical is almost complete. The field’s been narrowed down to just 17 dancers. For these men and women, this audition is the chance of a lifetime. It’s what they’ve worked for — with every drop of sweat, every hour of training. But before the final cut is made, the director Zach asks each of them to talk about themselves. But Zach wants more than just their resumes. He wants to know about their families, friends, lovers, ambitions and careers. From funny to heartbreaking, these 17 dancers share with us the stories of their lives. They put themselves on the line to get a job on the line. And when they’re done, so is the audition, and the final chorus line of 8 dancers is chosen.
(This show contains moderate language and sex references)
Show times: 7:30pm on 9th & 10th September, 5:00pm & 8:30pm on Saturday 11th September.

The Wisherman

Friday, 24th September 2010

This comedy-drama is co-written by local playwrights and performed by a new theatre company: Running Tide.
On a Cornish coast high above the sea, two sisters have their house, indeed their very existence, prey to gales and storms. It was said that they knew how to conjure the winds, cause wrecks, and get the sea to bring them what they needed for provisions.
Yet their hearts yearned for more. They wished and they dreamed, always the same dream, that one day the wicked wind would bring them their hearts desire: A MAN!
“A powerful and original production from a fresh, new theatre company.”
“Impressively performed; an energetic, poignant and often funny drama.”
